You may retire at any age you wish and this is no longer linked to the state pension age. Nor is it linked to when your private pension becomes available, although this may be a factor when you decide your retirement age.
If you decide that you wish to retire, you should inform your Line Manager, Head of Department and our Head of HR, in writing, as far in advance as possible or, at a minimum, in accordance with your notice period as set out in your Contract of Employment. This will assist us with succession planning.
It is advisable to take independent financial advice and carefully consider your pension provision before making any decision in relation to retirement.
